8th grade students in Mrs. Wade's science lab ignited steel wool (iron) with 9 volt batteries. They weighed their wool before burning it and after burning it. They were surprised that it weighed more after the combustion reaction occurred because the iron atoms from the steel wool combined with oxygen atoms from the air. The end result of the chemical reaction was iron oxide. The students also used this lab as an opportunity to investigate the Law of Conservation of Mass.

Last night some members of our community received a text message with political statements that contained our school logo. This message was NOT sent from anyone associated with NHCSC. It appears to be text message spam sent from a non-working number.

This is a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL for students on Tuesday, November 5th (Election Day).

Congratulations to 6th grade Pumpkins Chunkin challenge winners at 63 ft 4 in. 🎃

Our NHMS 7th Grade students have recently received so many compliments about being well behaved and polite from both inside and outside of our community. They have the least amount of discipline referrals of any grade level. We could not be prouder of them. Today, each 7th grader was called to the cafeteria to receive a free donut! Keep up the good work 7th graders! 💙

The staff at North Harrison Middle School would like to give a huge thanks to our PTO for all of the snacks today! We really appreciate them! #orangeyougladitisfriday🧡🧡🧡🧡
