43rd Annual North Harrison Cougar Classic Invitational
September 1, 2011
Ramsey, IN
On the Hottest Day of the year and the Hottest Day in September for over 57 years the temperature was rising and so was the NH Cougars race performance. The crowd and atmosphere in Cougar Country was awesome yesterday and so was the effort that was put out by your Cougar Team at our 27 team Invitational. Our Boy’s Varsity team defended their title and won the event for the third consecutive year placing 1st with a low score of 26 points and a pack time of 1:19. Your Cougar Harriers were led by Johnnie Guy who won the event with a time of 15:54. Teammate Jonathan Reynolds finished in 2nd place with a time of 16:16, Josh Guy finished strong in 4th place with a time of 16:32, Ryan Foster had a great kick and finished in 5th place with a time of 16:45. Kyle Chesser ran a solid race and finished in 14th place with a time of 17:13 and Jason Head finished in 15th place with a PR time of 17:14.
The Girl’s Varsity team also ran a very solid race and finished in 13th place with a score of 305 points and a pack time of 6:11. Ashton Bosler ran a great race and finished in 2nd place overall with a PR time of 20:28. Natalie Hollensead also ran very well and finished in 20th place with a PR time of 22:40. Abbey Stone finished in 87th place with a season best time of 26:01, Shelby Lindsey finished in 97th place with a time of 26:38, Hayley Elliott finished in 99th place with a time of 26:39, and Sydney Taylor finished in 105th place with a time of 27:12.
Because of the Heat Index, the girls and boys combined JV race was delayed in starting until 6:30 p.m. and shortened to a 2.6 mile course. Daniel Fleace owned it and had a great race winning it with a time of 14:54. Wesley Haub finished in 23rd place with a time of 16:44, Gary Young finished in 41st place with a time of 17:26, and John David Fessel finished in 101st place with a time of 20:19.
Congratulations to all of our Cougars. Special thanks to our maintenance staff who helped get the course ready on an extremely hot day and to our very own NH Drum Guard who played for us in the extreme heat and help energize the runners and spectators. Thanks also to Sophomore Shelby Shaw who sang our National Anthem and to John Voyles who provided us with the great music and PA system. Also special thanks to all of our school staff and the many community volunteers who helped at the Cougar Classic! We couldn’t put on such a big and successful event without all your help!!
